About the Musicians

Mijnoon Music Ensemble produces the music for dance-related stage shows Carnivale Mijnoon dance troupe creates featuring belly dance, folk dance, and fire dancing performances for Renaissance fairs, festivals, weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, birthday parties, corporate productions and public events.

 

They also perform separate from the dance troupe if you need a very talented group of professional musicians to bring the exotic allure of World Fusion Music to your next event.

Rune Palland

 

Music Director for Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company, Rune Palland is a founding member of Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company. He started his musical career playing trombone and baritone horn at the age of 12, and played low brass with the Wayne State University orchestra for three years.  In autumn of 2000, he began studying Middle Eastern percussion and music, and has studied from Oussama Naja, Souhail Kaspar, Raquy Danzinger, and Kevin Hartnell.

 

Rune has performed at local Renaissance Fairs and festivals, Lebanese and Egyptian weddings, Middle Eastern restaurants, the International Arab Festival in Dearborn, MI, Chaldean parties, museum exhibit openings, Pennsic, and other private events.  His playing style has been inspired and influenced by his teachers and such performers as Hossam Ramzy, Issam Houshan, and Setrak Sarkissan.

 

Rune continues to study Middle Eastern percussion and music, participates in the local drumming community, and performs with several local world music bands.

 

He is available to teach workshops and for performances at various events.

Chris Freeman

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since 2007, Chris Freeman is the pioneer of the CLF Music Project. Chris is a highly talented and skilled musician who draws his inspiration from both the East and West in a way that allows him to connect in a meaningful way with a wide variety of people.

 

Chris is available for performances at various venues. He has many of his own albums out on CD that you can preview on his web site. Please visit to hear his wonderful sitar styling.

Richard Perry

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since it’s founding, Richard has been studying African as well as Middle Eastern percussion for many years with a variety of teachers. Before joining Carnivale Mijnoon, Richard performed at the Michigan Renaissance Festival with various groups for many years. He drums with many local groups using his expertise in both Middle Eastern and African based rhythms.

Lorrie Gunn

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since 2008, Lorrie has been studying dance for 2 years. Lorrie received her undergraduate degree in violin performance studying with Eric Friedman. She has her Master of Music degree at University of Maine in violin performance. She has toured with orchestras throughout Italy, Austria, Spain and China. Currently she is the concert master of Rochester symphony orchestra Michigan. She is will be performing both music and dance with Carnivale Mijnoon. She has been performing with Musica Royal for the past 2 years at Michigan Renaissance Festival.

 

Lorrie is available for classes in violin.
