Elysia Hafsa– (Elisa O’Bryan)

 

Dance Director, Co-Creative Director, Executive Director, Student Director and Co-Choreographer for Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company, Elysia is a founding member of Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company.

 

With a broad range of skills, Elysia has been studying a variety of Middle Eastern Dance styles since 1989, through classes, workshops and events with various professional teachers, performing since 1990 and has been teaching since 1993.

 

Elysia is Co-Costume Designer of the costumes worn by Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company. She also specializes in the art of dying silk veils, silk skirts, silk scarves and silk hip shawls.

 

Her range of stylistic training includes: 

o Traditional or Folk/Folkloric Dance Forms
o    California Tribal
o    American Cabaret Belly Dance
o    World Fusion Belly Dance
o    Goddess-Spirit Dance: a “birth-magic ritual dance”

Elysia is available for performances at various venues and offers Dance Workshops on a variety of topics. You may also order her silk creations.

She is now teaching 5 days a week in Flint with classes forming in Lake Orion and Utica

Anya

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since 2007, Anya has been studying Middle Eastern dance since 2001. Before joining Carnivale Mijnoon, she performed at Michigan Renaissance Festival with MEDE for 5 years.

 

Her range of stylistic training includes:

Lorrie Gunn

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since 2008, Lorrie has been studying dance for 2 years. Lorrie received her undergraduate degree in violin performance studying with Eric Friedman. She has her Master of Music degree at University of Maine in violin performance. She has toured with orchestras throughout Italy, Austria, Spain and China. Currently she is the concert master of Rochester symphony orchestra Michigan. She performs both music and dance with Carnivale Mijnoon. She has been performing with Musica Royal for the past 2 years at Michigan Renaissance Festival.


Lorrie is available for classes in violin.

Roxanna- (Roxanne Bruscha)

 

Founder of Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company, Roxanna's love of performance led her to pursue the study of belly dance.  In 2005 she founded the Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company and worked as the Executive Director, Creative Director, Choreographer,  Script Writer, Costume Designer, and Lead Dancer in 2006 and 2007.


At the end of 2007 Roxanna chose to step away from Carnivale Mijnoon and throw her primary artistic efforts back into music, working with Mark Varelas as the Lead Vocalist, Dancer, Lyricist and Co-Creative Director for Wine and Alchemy. Wine and Alchemy is a cutting edge World Music group featuring a variety of stylistic influences including  Flamenco, Eastern European "Gypsy", and Celtic.

Samara

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since it’s founding, Samara has been studying Middle Eastern dance since 1999.  She is grateful to her teachers, most especially Aida Al-Adawi, Princess Madiha, and Andrew D'Ascenzo. She is proud to be a member of Carnivale Mijnoon.

Becca

 

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company troupe member since it's founding, Becca has been studying Middle Eastern dance since 2002. As a highly skilled and experienced artist, Becca is the designer and creator of the intricate, expressive masks used in Carnivale Mijnoon’s compelling Mask Dance. She also hand paints the folding fans used in the Fusion Fan Dance performances.
