Style and Performance

Carnivale Mijnoon represents the extreme in world fusion music and dance, skillfully incorporating exciting props such as serpents, swords, silk, fire and more! Working with a wide variety of traditional Middle Eastern, East Indian and Mediterranean music and dance styles, with a healthy infusion of ‘American Tribal Style’ belly dance, Carnivale Mijnoon’s unique World Fusion style takes music and belly dance to a new level of eclectic artistry.

The Mijnoon Music Ensemble weaves an intense fusion of World, Mediterranean, East-Indian and Middle Eastern sounds and features professional musicians specializing in fusion music performed with saz, sitar, violin and Middle Eastern and African percussion.

Mijnoon Music Ensemble has released the CD Tribal Bazaar, which aptly demonstrates our passion for the unconventional. Both our CD and performance/instructional DVD’s are available for purchase. 

Carnivale Mijnoon’s Professional Dance Company creates an unparalleled spectacle on the stage, complimenting our stylized World Fusion belly dance technique with the use of a variety of masks, bladed weapons, fire props, live snakes, silk veils, stilts and other enchanting and perilous props.

Beginnings

Carnivale Mijnoon Music and Dance Company was created by Roxanna in 2005 as a means of taking the art of Belly Dancing out of the proverbial box of traditional styling.

We produce stage shows featuring belly dance, folk dance, and fire dancing accompanied by our live music ensemble.  During 2006-2008 our company performed at several Renaissance Festivals in both Michigan and Ohio (Silver Leaf, Michigan, Great Lakes).

In 2008 we performed a large stage event at the Palace of Southfield and showcased our dance and fire performance skills at Studio 601 in downtown Detroit.  Additionally, we perform at private events such as weddings, bar & bat mitzvahs, parties and corporate productions. 

Carnivale Mijnoon also plays host to a variety of specialty performers who add many styles of dance, contact juggling and other circus arts to the show’s amazing mix of audio and visual delights.

Safety First

Carnivale Mijnoon’s motto (well, one of them, anyway) is ‘Safety First’.

The most important part of any spectacle oriented performance art is the attention given and measures implemented to ensure the safety of the audience and performers involved.

Carnivale Mijnoon performers and fire safety technicians are trained in safe conduct and handling for all utilized weapon and fire prop equipment.

Equipment is checked regularly to safe guard against structural failure.
